Have you heard about SDCC's new Youth Chorale? This exciting new ensemble is for students in grades 8-12. Youth Chorale started rehearsals this Fall and we recently sat down with our Artistic Director, Ruthie Millgard, to get the scoop.

In April, we had a great discussion with our SDCC music directors where we asked  “what qualities make a good chorister”?* It was such an insightful conversation that we thought it would be interesting to get the choristers’ point of view.

People know us for our Ensemble Choirs who sing at the San Diego Symphony Noel Noel concerts, the Voices for Children Gala, Padres games, and many more. What you might not know is that SDCC teaches music education in schools including a major collaboration with DEEP (Diamond Educational Excellence Partnership) in southeastern San Diego.

What an exciting year of growth it has been for SDCC. Despite the setbacks we’ve faced with Covid, the Choir experienced significant growth this year. Both our Ensemble and Early Years programs experienced record breaking enrollment and we expanded the number of rehearsal locations from 5 to 7 countywide.
