What’s On at SDCC? Holiday Season Performances!

‘Tis the season for holiday concerts! Our Apprentice choristers just sang the National Anthem at the San Diego Gulls ice-hockey game last Friday. Here are a few of the places you will find the San Diego Children’s Choir performing this season. We hope to see you in the audience at one of the events below.

First up is the FUMC Concert Series on Saturday, November 4, from 4:00-6:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Mission Valley. Members of the Preparatory, Premier and Chamber Choirs will be joined by several of First Church’s youth and children’s ensembles. A wonderful performance for children who will be inspired by these young musicians. For more information visit FUMC’s website. 

Next, Intermediate Choir and Youth Chorale will be among six San Diego-based choirs - including the San Diego Jewish Men's Choir, the San Diego Saints Choir, Shirim B'Lev women's choir, and more - performing in an uplifting concert as part of the The California Festival: A Celebration of New Music series on November 11 at 7:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Join KPBS on November 18 at 2:00 p.m. for their Holidays with KPBS Open House with activities for all ages that will get you in the holiday spirit, including performances from members of Premier Choir. Learn more about KPBS’s open house on their Eventbrite page.

TICKETS NOW ON SALE! Mark your calendar for Saturday, December 2, from 4:00-6:00 pm for the San Diego Children’s Choir’s 34th Annual Winter Concert at First United Methodist Church of San Diego in Mission Valley. This concert features all our ensemble choristers singing holiday favorites and will feature special guests, Westwind Brass. Bring your family and friends and kick off the holiday season with this joyous concert. For more information visit our Eventbrite page. 

Singing with the San Diego Symphony is always a highlight for our advanced choristers!  If you haven’t been to the Rady Shell this is a great venue to hear the San Diego Symphony. The Symphony’s Noel Noel is a San Diego holiday favorite and runs from Friday, December 15 through Sunday, December 17. Select choir members perform with the San Diego Symphony and San Diego Master Chorale. For all the details visit San Diego Symphony’s website. 

Participating in Noah Homes Enchanted Village is a special holiday tradition for the San Diego Children’s Choir’s Preparatory Choir. This year they will be performing on December 20 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. For the price of a movie ticket, guests will be surrounded by brilliantly lit trees, magical cottages, light tunnels, live entertainers, hundreds of giant candy canes, over a million lights, interactive displays, and many other festive decorations! All proceeds benefit Noah Homes, a nonprofit that provides housing and care to people with developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome and autism.
