Our auditioned Intermediate Choir is our advanced training ensemble and is excellent for students in grades 6-8 with a passion for music, and any level of music experience. The choir performs locally 6-10 times per year, including an opportunity to participate in a regional mini-tour.

INTERMEDIATE CHOIR (GRADES 6–8)

Marielena Teng, Director

Weekly Rehearsal Schedule and Locations

Meets one time a week from September 2 through December 8, 2024 for the Fall Semester and January 26 through June 8, 2025 for the Spring Semester at the following locations. Parents select their preferred site upon registration.

NOTE FOR NEW STUDENTS SPRING 2025: For students enrolling for the first time with little or no previous music reading instruction, we strongly recommend signing up for the winter music reading intensive. Because most students participate in choir for the full academic year, this class is helpful in ensuring that your child will feel prepared when rehearsals begin.

  • Children continue to hone posture, breathing and vocal technique, developing a greater degree of musical independence through part-singing, sight-singing and aural skills

  • They are local ambassadors of the Choir and frequently represent the organization at events.

  • Advanced level repertoire singing in two, three and four part rounds and in multiple languages and styles

  • Music Literacy Training via individual progress through A Young Singer's Journey workbook series
