The San Diego Children’s Choir School Outreach program offers fun and engaging music education to schools throughout San Diego County on a limited, contractual basis. With 80% of public schools lacking music classes, the Choir fills this gap in their education.

The Choir mainly focuses on Title 1 schools in the southeast area of San Diego and provides its programming for free with the support of donations, grants and school contracts. Of the five current schools below, four are partner schools of the Diamond Educational Excellence Partnership (DEEP), a collaborative undertaking of multiple partner organizations and community leaders who are committed to improving educational outcomes for students attending public schools in the Diamond Community. SDCC has partnered with DEEP since 2017 to provide music education to support DEEPs commitment to ensuring that children attending these schools enter kindergarten prepared for success and complete third grade reading proficiently.

Students learn about rhythm, beat, melody, and teamwork in weekly music sessions. Informal recitals are held periodically for family and friends. Through this program elementary school students from all economic backgrounds experience choral music education sessions at their schools.
